Wiki
From Et cetera
A wiki is a website that can be edited by anyone and although many different varieties of wiki software are available for use, MediaWiki-based applications are quickly taking over as the standard. Et cetera is one such wiki.

As an ideal website template...
All websites are different, but I believe that the wiki format of collaborative editing and structuring of information is the ideal engine upon which to build almost any page. When it comes to offering a complete picture of the information you are looking to present, it doesn't even matter what the information is, a wiki is very well suited for it. The catch is that the reader also needs to understand how to use a wiki to its full advantage in order to be able to access that complete picture.

Categories
Categories in a wiki website offer an hierarchal way of keeping your information organized, as well as offering readers the chance to browse other topics related to the one they have just read.
